For six weeks during the spring of 2015, our “Celebrating the Sea” exhibition featured in the gallery at the St Barbe Museum, Lymington, Hampshire. Twenty six members and associates had paintings in the exhibition, which attracted a large number of visitors from across the area, all of whom were appreciative of the range and standard of the work on show.
The Private View, on Thursday 5th March, was very well attended and resulted in a pleasing number of sales. It was also good to see the event supported by a number of the participating members, several of whom had travelled some considerable distance to be there and enjoy the occasion.
Steady sales continued throughout the exhibition, resulting in one of our most successful out-of-London shows for some years.
On the evening of Friday 6th March our president, Elizabeth Smith, gave an illustrated talk to a large gathering of the Friends of St Barbe, speaking about her own paintings and, equally importantly, her role as president of the Society.
